I would like to share something with you readers:
Heard of the legend of Jesse Owens?
He represented United States team in 1936 for Olympics. What happened during that time was historical.
During that time, the Olympics were held in Berlin. It was the era of Hitler, who took this event as an opportunity to show the power and pride of the Nazi. He called his German team "superhumans", while predicting that his team will win in every events (which it almost did).
Then come Jesse Owens.
Competing in the 100m, Jesse Owens won the gold medal, much to the frustruation of the dictator. Denting the hopes of achieving the ultimate, Hitler refers to him as an "animal", although not obviously but with a hint from which he refer Owens as "it".
Later, Owens won a gold medal from 200m, adding salt to Hitler's wound.
Then come the long jump. Due to lack of people, the team picked Owens as their representative. Initially, Owens fouled in his first two jumps. Before his final last attempt, suddenly his rival, Luz Long from Germany, came out to him and point out his mistakes. This is the perfect example of sportsmanship especially with the fact that Long was in Hitler's team.
Yes, you guessed it. Owens won a gold medal from long jump, hurting the dictator's ego once more.
Then he continued to win another gold medal from 4 x 100m relay.
In his only Olympic appearance, he won four gold medals which was obtained against all odds.
What can we learn from here?
From difficulties and challenges, we can push our limits. We can take obstacles and turn it into something positive, that is an oppurtunity to win out of the situation. By looking at this way, life will be more meaningful.
Fantastic story, ya? =D
